History
1919-1950 Innovative partnership
On May 1st of the postwar year 1919, the commercial agent Otto Thämert founded a specialised trade of accessories for foundationwear and bodices. Expert knowledge, enthusiasm and courage to invest made his company more and more successful. Own patents and a continually growing clientèle soon made an extension of the organisation necessary. Otto Thämert transferred his company to Braunschweig.
During the second world war the firm was almost completely destroyed in an air attack. The reconstruction began immediately.

1951-1960 New tasks require ideas and investments
After 32 years of management Otto Thämert resigned in 1951. The new owner was Walter Ahrendt. He transferred the company back to its origins in Hanover. With Heinz Krüger and Wilhelm Möhl he found the right partners to broaden the enterprise basis.
From then on Thämert Company has been managed by three partners sharing equal rights.
The new owners supplemented the purely trading organization by introducing foundationwear manufacture, as well as the accessories. The subsequent success demanded capacity expansion - however several moves to larger localities brought only short-term improvements.
At that time the foam bra-fillings and bras with foam-lining were developed. The first breast form made of foam segments was designed and applied for patent.

1961-1967 Up-to-date market products for health and rehabilitation
To be armed for the future a 16.000 m2 property was bought in 1962 in Großburgwedel, near Hanover. The new building was equipped with modern, efficient production facilities and the company moved there in 1964. New product lines, such as abdominal supports and back supports, some of them semi-finished, are added, parallel to the already existing programme.
During that time a new product line was developed: cups for swim wear made of injection moulded plastic material respectively textile covered and seamlessly formed. At this time a substantial amount of products were also being delivered to foreign countries.

1968-1974 Contant developments, always with the patient in mind

The search and development of new and better products carried their fruit. The orthopaedic aids meet with the approval of doctors, the specialised medical trade and patients which made a further extension of the company necessary. After the renewed expansion of the production, Thämert Company had 150 employees in 1969, the year of the 50th anniversary. Sadly, the associate Walter Ahrendt died shortly before this celebration.
The fluid-filled Aphrodite breast form with air valve was developed and allowed for an even better fitting of women after mastectomy. As early as 1971/72 Thämert launched Aphrodite de Luxe, a further development which featured an integrated air chamber that could be inflated by means of a valve. National and international patents were applied for.

1975-1980 Sound competent ideas - a solid basis for the new generation
In 1975 at 66 years of age, Heinz Krüger entrusted his son Dr. Horst Krüger his life`s work. Hans-Georg Blau succeeded Wilhelm Möhl. Jointly they expanded the development and production of orthopaedic aids and with their products won great acclaim in primarily western foreign countries. Numerous connections confirm the success of a sound marketing-strategy.
The subsidiary company Thämert France domiciled in Paris is founded in 1980.
The launch of the Silima silicone breast forms on the home market and abroad in 1976/78 marked a further step in the development of breast forms.
